Believing in yourself when everyone tells you not.

People are gonna try to destroy you, hurt you, lie to you, make fun of you, and take advantage of you all the time. You’re the only person who can believe in yourself. Being confident in your talent and hard work is the best self care you can give yourself.

True strength is still being kind - still having your heart open to the world when you’ve been through hell. It takes another level of strength to keep having faith in humanity when you’ve been denied and betrayed so many times.

My favorite scene was when the villain urges the protagonist, Carol, to prove to him that she can have her emotions under control and fight. And, she simply shoots him and tells him, “I don’t need to prove myself to you.” goosebumps.

Men personify the oppressor, and women the oppressed. But it doesn’t mean that all men are chauvinistic and bigots. Some of the most understanding and kind people I know are male. And women aren’t the only ones oppressed. This dynamic -oppressed vs. the oppressor applies everywhere: the oppressed can be women, LGBT community, ethnic minority, etc. I believe the oppression feeds the power to oppose it.

Feminism isn’t about growing armpit hair or ardently hating men; it’s about believing in our own abilities, not listening to anyone who tells you no, pursuing your goal, and sharing kindness to others. That way, we can be a good role model for young girls.
